Dorothy Yost at PAWS program

On March 23, 2010, local P.A.W.S. to Read volunteers were officially recognized and honored by Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library President Dorothy Yost (seated left)
Children can improve their reading greatly because dogs do not correct them; they just look, listen, and provide a comforting and supportive audience. It is amazing to watch how insecure young readers respond positively and improve with this therapy.

PAWS to Read

This wonderful program, co-sponsored by the FOL, is in its second year at the Hermosa  Beach Library. Every second Saturday, youngsters practice reading skills with attentive Therapy Dogs as patient listeners.
Call 310-379-8475, or stop in at the Hermosa Beach library to reserve your child’s or grandchild’s turn to Sit, Stay, and Read to a trained dog.
