MONDAY MORNING BARD STREET BOOK SALES: Open hours are still 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. except the Monday before each book sale or Holidays. Call 310-372-1902 for large donations.

 
WHERE THE BOOK SALE MONEY GOES: Recent purchases for the library from FOL funds include a revolving bookcase display for
CDs, pots and plants to enhance the interior decor, and refreshments following the L.A. Opera’s hugely entertaining visit to the Children’s Section
on April 18th.

“Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library”
Youth Services Librarian Carolyn Reed has arranged for the following Friday afternoon programs, all beginning at 3 P.M., all sponsored by the FOL’s Evelyn Belasco Fund:

— July 18: “Back to the Beach” with Miss Bits’n’Bobs--music and stories
— July 25: “It’s a Bug’s Life”
— August 1: Alligator Al & his Fabulous Reptiles
— August 8: “Free to Be Me”--Drumming with Sabine

LONGTIME FRIENDS OF THE FRIENDS: A special salute to library staff members who have been serving patrons in Hermosa Beach for many years. They include (with their starting dates) Library Assistant Michael Mohr (1996), Library Aides Riyo Shimane (1975) and Debbie Wallace (2002), and Library Page Nancy Anderson (1988). And thanks to all the County Library employees for always making us feel welcome.
